Children are fascinated by large machines, and helicopters are no exception. But for some, this interest in helicopters doesn’t fade away. Instead, it grows and becomes a path to a career in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) fields.
Many people who have made careers in helicopter aviation report being “bitten by the aviation bug.” They determined early on that they wanted to know more about these flying machines that can do so much. For some, it was a helicopter ride; for others, just a chance viewing of a helicopter in action was enough to set them on a path to become a pilot, maintenance technician, or other aviation professional.
It’s never too early to provide young girls and boys with exposure to helicopters and what they can do. Who knows where that might lead?
