This helicopter was part of the U.S. Army's Helicopter Square Dance team based at Ft. Sill, OK, then Ft. Rucker, AL. The purpose of these early precision flight groups was to show the public the skills associated with helicopter flight thereby attracting pilots. Typical helicopter-related events performed by the Army Precision Demonstration Team included autorotation, wire laying and medical evacuation. The H-19D was among the helicopters that participated in the famous aerial "square dancing" from 1951 to 1962.
